TL;DR
We respect your privacy. We collect only what’s needed to run our business and deliver podcasts and ads effectively, nothing more. We don’t sell or share your personal data, and our Privacy Prefix is built specifically to protect listeners by not keeping any data at all.
1. Information We Collect
We collect limited information to help us improve our services and communicate effectively.
- Website Analytics: We use Matomo and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. These tools may use cookies to measure traffic and performance but don’t personally identify you.
- Forms & Mailing Lists: When you fill out a contact form (via Gravity Forms) or subscribe to our mailing list (through Kit), we collect the information you choose to share (usually your name and email) to reply or send updates.
- Advertising: Our ad serving engine (Adjuggler Enterprise) runs on our own servers and uses cookies to measure and report on ad performance. This data isn’t shared outside of BackBeat Media.
- Third-Party Ad Partners: Some sponsors may use their own tracking (e.g., ad tags, pixels, or prefix URLs). These are governed by those partners’ privacy policies and follow standard industry practice for campaign measurement and compliance.
- Embedded Content: Some pages may include embedded players, videos, or posts from other websites. Those sites may collect data through cookies or tracking scripts as if you visited them directly. Their privacy policies apply.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Improve our websites and services
- Respond to your messages
- Measure and report on advertising performance
- Maintain security and detect potential abuse
We never sell your personal data and share it only with necessary partners (Google, Kit, Cloudflare, etc.) who help us run our business securely.
3. Cookies
Cookies help us measure traffic and ad performance. You can disable or delete cookies anytime in your browser settings. Our site will still function without them.
4. The BackBeat Media Privacy Prefix
Our Privacy Prefix (at domains like pp.bbmpx.com
, pp1.bbmpx.com
, and pp2.bbmpx.com
) exists to protect podcast listeners’ privacy.
- It proxies podcast audio requests through our system running as a Cloudflare Worker, shielding the listener’s IP from downstream servers.
- The prefix runs briefly, processes the request, and then terminates — no logs are kept.
- It sets no cookies, stores no data, and never collects personal information.
- The only system that momentarily sees an IP is Cloudflare, and that data disappears once the request completes.
In short: it’s stateless, log-free, and built entirely to protect listeners.
5. Data Retention
- Contact and mailing list data: kept only as long as needed for communication.
- Analytics data: stored in aggregate, non-identifiable form.
- Ad data: retained only for campaign reporting.
- Privacy Prefix: retains nothing.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict how we use your data. To exercise those rights, contact privacy@backbeatmedia.com.
7. Updates
We may update this policy occasionally. If we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above.
